Airpath's OSS, Roaming and Clearinghouse Platform RoamBOSS Metro Enables Metro Wireless for "Pilot Cities"
Waltham, Ma. — August 18, 2005 — Airpath Wireless, Inc., the leader in enabling management and roaming for wireless broadband networks, announced today it is working with Intel Corporation on its Digital Communities initiative by offering its RoamBOSS Metro solution as a best-of-breed platform to help build out a complete network of wireless broadband service.
Airpath's RoamBOSS Metro software platform, which contains both OSS and clearinghouse functionality, will work in concert with wireless hardware technologies from such companies as Tropos Networks to provide a proven wireless infrastructure capable of transmitting wireless Internet access at DSL or T1 speeds up to 30 miles to cover large metro areas. The OSS functionality provides all of the operational tools required for network owners to provision and manage their public access networks, subscriber base, and their ad-hoc customers across an entire municipality or series of municipalities. The clearinghouse functionality enables the municipality to offer wholesale roaming access with any number of alternate service providers for seamless end user roaming. Airpath currently has a number of leading service providers interconnected into their platform interested in buying wholesale access from municipalities.
"Wireless broadband is transforming the way we work and live, and it needs to be universally deployed and easily accessible for everyone's benefit," said Todd Myers, CEO of Airpath. "Airpath is a strong supporter of the Intel Digital Communities program and has a software solution that meets the requirements of those involved in rolling out municipal or metro-scale wireless broadband."
"Intel is pleased that Airpath is part of Digital Communities, a program designed to deliver comprehensive solutions and services that transform government services, increase economic vitality, and enhance the livability of communities," explained Paul Butcher, state and local government marketing manager, Intel Corp. "Airpath's solutions, which enable municipalities to deploy a neutral host platform to deliver wireless broadband access, can help enhance a community's wireless services."
Along with Airpath, Intel is working with other business and community leaders through its Digital Communities initiative to help develop innovative solutions and services for municipal governments, citizens and businesses. This initiative will help various "pilot communities" design, develop and deploy comprehensive solutions and services that can be replicated by virtually any community around the world.
