Airpath Joins Frontier Broadband in Granbury, Texas Wi-Fi Deployment

WALTHAM , Mass – March 7, 2006 – Airpath Wireless, Inc., the leader in enabling management and roaming for wireless broadband networks, today announced that Frontier Broadband, a wireless Internet service provider, has selected Airpath’s RoamBOSS Metro to simplify the back-office operations of the Granbury, Texas city-wide Wi-Fi deployment. RoamBOSS Metro, the only carrier-class Operational Support System (OSS) solution with built in roaming and clearinghouse capabilities, performs all of the critical business tasks for Frontier including subscriber management, billing and authentication. RoamBOSS Metro also provides Frontier with the ability to wholesale their network to other service providers, which is an increasing requirement for municipal wireless network operators.

Granbury , Texas, located 35 miles southwest of Fort Worth, was the first U.S. city to use mobile mesh Wi-Fi for both government services and public access. Prior to the municipal wireless deployment, the city had only limited Internet services available. Developed and deployed by Frontier, the wireless network will be used for public safety, building inspection, meter reading and public access. Additionally, Frontier will continue to manage the network and its subscribers, who will pay $19.95 a month for access. Airpath’s flexible and scalable hosted OSS will enable Frontier to offer a variety of service plans throughout the city and easily grow with usage. As RoamBOSS Metro is hardware neutral, Frontier is able to design the network using best of breed technologies and ensure that the OSS works seamlessly with the network infrastructure.
